Travel Information

 

Traveling to Düisburg

If you plan to fly in, you can consider coming to Düsseldorf International Airport, which is the airport nearest to Düisburg (about 15 km). You can fly to Frankfurt or Amsterdam, the Netherlands, and then catch a connecting flight to Düsseldorf. (Lufthansa). A similar arrangement is possible, if you have London or Paris as your port of entry to Europe.

You can also fly to Frankfurt or Amsterdam and then take a train to Düisburg (from Frankfurt about 2,5 hours, from Amsterdam1,5 hours). Both airports have direct access to train stations.

You can also take a train from a location in the continental Europe to Düisburg.

Participants arriving at Düsseldorf International Airport can have arrangement to be picked up by a staff from the university. Please give sufficiently advanced notice to Marianne Appelt <m.appelt@uni-duisburg.de>, secretary of Günter Heiduk. Please provide your arrival time and flight number. 

 

Travel Documents/Visa

Participants holding Taiwan passports will need a visa to travel to Germany. Holders of passports from other countries, such as Australia, Canada, Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea, and the U.S. will not need a visa. For more information, please contact a German embassy. 

 

Accommodation

We have reserved rooms at the following hotels:

  • Novotel: single occupancy of room incl. breakfast EURO 62 for weekend double EURO 78

  • Steigenberger Hotel: single incl. breakfast EURO 92, double EURO 128

Both hotels are in the downtown area, , near the central station, and are close to each other. 

Shuttle transfers (10 minutes) between the hotels and the conference venue will be arranged by the conference staff. 

The rates are conference rates, and to get these rates, reservations have to be made through us. Please contact Marianne Appelt <m.appelt@uni-duisburg.de>.
