The video conference, which is part of the "WTO and World Trade" conference, was held simultaneously in Seattle at 5:30 p.m., December 4, 1999 and Hong Kong at 9:30 a.m., December 5, 1999. It was co-chaired by Kar-yiu Wong in Seattle and Richard Ho in Hong Kong. Three papers were presented:

Ian Wooton, University of Glasgow, "Trade in International Transport Services: The Role of Competition" (discussed by Leonard Cheng, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology);

Carsten Kowalczyk, Tufts University, "Trade Negotiations, Distortions, and Welfare” (discussed by Edwin Lai, City University of Hong Kong); and

Earl L. Grinols, University of Illinois, "Does the WTO Worsen Trade Disputes?: Evidence from US Cases" (discussed by Eden Yu, Chinese University of Hong Kong).

The video clips are slightly more than 17 minutes long, with the first part introducing some of the participants and the second part being taken from the clips taped in Seattle. To view the clips, you need to have the Real Player in your system. You can download the free software.
