Organizers: Kar-yiu Wong and Richard Y. K. Ho

Sponsors: Faculty of Business and Asia-Pacific Financial Markets Research Centre, City University of Hong Kong

Local Organizer: Wing-Fai Leung

Location: City University of Hong Kong, Hong Kong

Time: July 27 - 31, 1998.

The purpose of this workshop is two-fold. First, it provides a forum to people to present their latest work on international trade and factor mobility. Second, it offers opportunities to people to share their views on the growth of some Asian countries and the current Asian crisis.

Papers for presentation may be theoretical or empirical, and do not necessarily have to be directly related to any Asian country, though studies of Asian economies and papers with policy and analysis implications that can be applied to Asia will be most welcome.

The workshop will be conducted in a presenter- and discussant-friendly way in order to allow ample opportunities for constructive discussions and interactions among the participants.

Current and future work related to the Asian crisis and Asian growth will be encouraged.

Subject to availability of space, office space will be provided to overseas participants.

It is possible that participants can stay in Hong Kong or Taiwan after the workshop and then participate in the Taiwan conference on "Dynamics, Economic Growth and International Trade" on August 24 - 26, 1998.
